1984 Solo Passage / Flinker Igel – Galerie Wallace

George schrieb folgendes dazu…..

These photos are of C Sqn of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, an Independent Tank Sqn based at CFB Gagetown, in New Brunswick, Canada. They were the only tank squadron in Canadian History to have two sets of tanks: one complete squadron in Canada and another complete squadron in Germany, of 19 tanks each, with associated echelon vehicles. C Sqn trained in Canada and also supported the Armour School. They were a “Flyover Sqn” that would fly to Germany annually to man their tanks there for work up training for FALL EX (what the Americans called REFORGER) in Hohenfels, and then out into the German countryside for the NATO Exercise. The Sqn would conduct their maintenance on their tanks after the Exercise and return to Canada for more training, demonstrations, and support to the Armour School. The C Sqn tanks that were in Germany were maintained by a skeleton crew, under the administrative control of the Royal Canadian Dragoons. This gave the Royal Canadian Dragoons three tank squadrons (A,B and C), a Regimental Recce Troop (60) and a Recce Sqn (D Sqn, which was a Bde asset).

    Hey George

    Danke George

    Hello George,

thank you for sharing these great and unique pictures with us. This is exactly how I still remember the exercises of the 4CMBG that were often practiced in my home country in the 1980s. Many of the scenes and landscapes in your photograhs are very familiar to me, as this exercise took place in my immediate home. I would never have thought to see such interesting pictures again. So thank you again!

Incidentally, I was also actively involved in the exercice “Flinker Igel” on the part of the “Blue” exercise team.

    Hi George,

what for impressive Pics from this bygone era. Your Text brought clarity about the structure of the 4CMBG. Fantastic Pictures that show the complete sequence of “Solo Passage” Exercise and then “Flinker Igel”. One of the most Impressive Galleries here on military-database. A big thank you to Wolfgang Igert who was able to assign the exercise perfectly.
Kind Regards and thanks to you for all.
